My Natural Colours – Colour Analysis with Anne

My Natural Colours and OBASHO colour consultancies were founded by Anne Campbell, an artist specialising in natural colour and design. She is based in London and England’s historic Cotswold district, and consults for clients in the UK, Europe, US and Asia.

Living in Tokyo and extensive training in ikebana nurtured Anne’s artistic senses and expanded her understanding of natural colour and design harmonies, and the refined seasonal aesthetics in Japanese art and literature. Since departing Japan for England in 2007 Anne has continued to learn, to teach and to expand her appreciation for colour, style and seasonal design.

Visual Poetry for humans, in the language of light, texture and colour

Each of Anne’s clients present a unique inheritance of colour and design. In her studios, Anne works collaboratively to reveal each client’s own compelling visual poetry, and then to complement it with a bespoke colour palette and personal design protocols. Anne’s most compact Core Palette service might be assembled with discrimination akin to composing a seasonal haiku, the world renowned and highly compact poetic medium brought to new heights by Matsuo Basho in the 17^th century. Anne’s more expansive Complete Palettes might be analogous in scale to an ode by Keats, or a summer’s day sonnet by Shakespeare. Perhaps more than verbal poetry, our personal visual poetry is often vitally connected to beauties of nature experienced in the flow of seasons across the year.

Colour has a critical role to play. Throughout our waking hours ever-fluid kaleidoscopes of light and colour wash over us. Our limbic systems and emotions respond to light and colour faster than our rational brains can manage. We react in complex ways – especially to hue and chroma – and as a result may subconsciously judge, trust, or avoid garments, interior spaces (or people) accordingly. Fortunately the inverse is often true with our nervous systems’ myriad positive responses to colour and light – in our living and work spaces, with apparel and above all, with people.

Anne’s personal colour analysis method is informed by nature and its seasons, patterns, light and colours.
