Colour Temperature” in personal colour analysis can be mistaken as a bimodal, either-or toggle between warm and cool. In fact human colour temperature is more nuanced, and runs along a more continuous spectrum. A forced choice between warm or cool is too general to yield consistently successful results.

Each of my custom palettes, regardless of where its owner connects on the temperature spectrum, offers at least four charismatic versions of red and pink. A key to my palettes’ success with clients is the continuous temperature spectrum I deploy. In fact many people have mixtures of warm, neutral and cool temperatures in their natural colouring.

BEFORE : An ombre scarf in cool, clear magenta pinks, over a sparkling pink and red floral dress…would you agree that these are too cool for her complexion? Let’s compare them to the pinks in the next image.

AFTER: Alizarin rose pink and muted alizerin reds suit her eyes and complexion better, bringing healthy colour to her cheeks. These are warmer – but are still in a category that many describe as “cool.” These relatively warmer pinks and reds suit her better. With them we achieve the sought after shift in our focus from her clothing to her face and whole person.

A custom palette creates energising harmonies when viewed together with the client for whom it was created. It is designed to complement a client’s unique natural colouring, physical geometry and personality. Charismatic reds and pinks in this woman’s natural palette help to brighten her face and eyes dramatically. In the AFTER image above we see that the pink and muted red multi-tone dress helps her face to appear healthier and more rested than when she dons the ultra cool pink scarf and floral dress. Harmony is energising!
